Tui DeLight 2017 Line-Up

We’re incredibly excited to present you with such amazing line-up of international artists in the humble abode of the Tui Treefield this year…

mybabyozoraMy Baby is a Dutch/New Zealand trio based in Amsterdam that play a brand of psychedelic tribal blues trance. It’s a sound inspired by old blues and folk music, but played with the rawness of sixties and seventies soul and funk and an edgy trance like infusion of west african desert blues, moroccan Gnawa and indian ragas. Simply EPIC!

The band consists of Cato van Dyke on vocals and guitar, Sheik van Dyke on drums and vocals and Daniel ‘dafreez’ Johnston on guitars. Together they bring a high energy, Rock and Roll fueled show that leans towards electronic dance music and will get EVERYBODY dancing.

14875137_10154239902643640_1715695148_nMatiu Te Huki and my Golden Soul (Wellington). Matiu has a background in traditional Maori performing arts, theater and fronting great bands with his powerful yet smooth, unique voice.

His music is soulful roots with grabbing grooves, deep dub with beautiful bass, funk and a bit of hip hop. And to make it even fuller, he adds a strong Maori flavor using haka, chants and traditional Maori instruments..

With his songs Matiu connects our hearts and brings a deeper knowing to the surface for us to dance out. He is a great uniting force and holds the space for all to shine. Various amazing artists are bound to be sharing the stage with Matiu again at DeLight this year. Be surprised and don’t miss it!

“Musical medicine, deeply tangible immersive gypsy folk, inducing uncontrollable limb flailing and feet stomping. Raw. Personal. Shamanic Ecstasy.” – Jake Graffy, UK

malandkyMal Webb & Kylie Morrigan (AUS) – Around the world and into your brain, vocal adventurer, multi-instrumentalist and looping beatboxing songwriter Mal Webb sings his songs about all manner of stuff, using all sorts of vocal techniques, guitar, mbira, slide trumpet, trombone, chromatic harmonica and a loop recording pedal called Derek. It’s a lip to lung journey through the physics, physiology and phrivolity of all the sounds a face can make. Sideways yodelling, beatbox, harmonics, throat singing, uvular fluttering, advanced clapping. He’s like Bobby McFerrin, Aphex Twin and Cole Porter playing scrabble. Ebulliently eclectic. Nefariously varied. Family fun free from facile frippery. “You’re a freak!”-Ani DiFranco

tribal-bobBob Hillary & the Massive Mellow (UK) play a hypnotic Healing blend of Reggae, folk, & soul music. Music with a Message for the times we live in.’
