Some workshops will offer us the opportunity to prepare a contribution for the Open Mic night on Saturday.

Details about workshop offerings are listed below. The schedule will be posted at the event.

Whether it is describing yesterday’s breakfast or a riveting life-threatening adventure, stories bring us all a bit closer.  In fact, throughout history, sharing story is one of the most connecting experiences between humans… and we do it all the time!

Join Aralyn for interactive games and exploration of story making.   Cultivate an autobiographical story, learn tips for great telling and “perform” your story at the gathering.

Using drama games to see oppression in society & co-creating possible solutions to it…. fun eh! Andy will facilitate this play/workshop based on the work of Augusto BOAL.

MUSIC, MEDITATION and SELF TRANSFORMATION with Prosad from Canada * What a Treat! *

After 17 years of studying sitar and classical Indian music, Prosad has travelled the world, composing, teaching and performing.
In this workshop, we will cover topics related to music, spirituality, meditation and self transformation. The presentation will cover stories, information and an interactive portion as participants will learn a composition based on Indian rhythm using the concept of beat cycles.

There is magic in coming together and moving with beat. West African dance with Monica offers fun, easy and funky ways for us to experience doing this together. No dance experience needed – all welcome.

“The Department of Whimsicality” with Ian

Ian has been leading performance and improvisation groups for many years. Ian is a qualified teacher, experienced clown doctor, Zen meditator, laughter yoga teacher trainer and clowns with ‘nose to nose’.

A workshop of improvisation, play, laughter, clown and unicorns: Using games and improvisation we will go on an adventure to the realm of the inner child . Creating story and connection we will dare ourselves ever closer to the edge of presence. Bring a wild and carefree attitude, a ridiculously unsensible hat and your willingness to fail spectacularly.

LAUGHTER YOGA with Hera & Richard

This session with Hera and Richard is a mixture of playful exercises to stimulate laughter, with clapping and breathing exercises, laughter meditation and relaxation. Through eye contact and a willingness to `fake it until you make it` the laughter becomes real and spontaneous.

Laughing for health and happiness is ancient – it comes from traditions all over the world.

Get Down: Pimp Yo’ DANCEFLOOR STYLES with Monica & Manu

Are you tired of doing the same old default dance moves? Drawing from contemporary, capoeira, circus, West African, 5Rhythms and community dance modalities, as well as many years on many dance floors, Manu and Mon will take you through games, exercises and jams to help you express and explore more exciting and authentic ways of moving, in the noble service of More Badass Dance Floors Everywhere. Hurray!

Hera is offering a workshop to discover the joy of singing, freedom of expression and healing power of the voice.

You can share the facebook event for this gathering with your friends, too.
